NT Concepts started the year logging 5,014 miles in the EX2 Adventures’ Virtual Backyard BRRR Challenge, over 50 employees, friends, and family joined the challenge to get moving and help raise over $26,000 for EX2’s charity partner Homestretch, a Falls Church-based nonprofit that assists Virginia families experiencing homelessness.
For the Backyard BRRR, participants are challenged to log at least one mile per day of outdoor activity during January for a total of 31 miles in 31 outside activities. This year, five NT Concepts teams accepted the challenge alongside other supporters from 33 states and 6 different countries. Challenge competitors accumulated over 107,473 miles by walking, running, cycling, paddling, skiing, and swimming. In addition, the Backyard BRRR Push-up Challenge entrants generated a total of 128,658 pushups.
Two NT Concepts teams earned spots on the leaderboard in the Corporate Division: “NT Concepts BuDdies” clocked the most miles with 1,536 total and “NT Concepts Worst Pace Scenario” logged the most outdoor miles with 516. Team “NT Concepts Accounting BC” was recognized for most team miles skied with 299 miles on the slopes, and “NT Concepts Worst Pace Scenario” earned the most push-ups with a final count of 22,871. Senior Scrum Master Joon Lee contributed 22,721 reps to that tally, making him the top male finisher overall in the Push-up Challenge.
More than a giving back event, the Challenge was a company-wide wellness initiative to kick off the new year and boost employee morale and wellness during the pandemic.
“It’s pretty amazing the engagement we had across all divisions at NT Concepts,” said Business Development Director Tucker Newberry, who championed the event. “I couldn’t get on a call without someone telling me they were trying to beat me, or that they were encouraging their team to get moving. It really helped bring our company together, and around a great cause.
This year EX2 doubled the amount fundraised for Homestretch compared to last year. We were able to connect five other teams to participate in the Backyard BRRR, not only raising awareness for Homestretch but also furthering the mission of #NTC_GivesBack to help cultivate a network of organizations that are seeking to do good.”
In addition to the direct corporate partner contributions made to Homestretch as part of the challenge, EX2 Adventures matched 10% of each donation.
