Vienna, VA - September 20, 2011 – NT Concepts announced today that Michele Bolos, CEO has been named as a finalist in the eleventh annual Heroines in Technology® Awards. The Heroines in Technology® Awards, presented by The Northern Virginia Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA NOVA) and the March of Dimes, recognizes women in the Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia technology industries who demonstrate community leadership.
I am honored to share the company of the amazing women recognized by AFCEA NOVA and March of Dimes as Finalists for the Heroines in Technology Awards.
Michele’s volunteerism sets an example for those in her life, both professionally and personally. She proudly serves as an executive board member for Gabriel Homes, Inc., a private nonprofit organization promoting independence through residential placement, training, and community integration for adults with special needs. Furthermore, from serving as a volunteer instructor for the American Red Cross teaching CPR and First Aid for over 20 years, fund-raising for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, and participating in various professional organizations, Michele continuously dedicates time to serving others.
Michele has also motivated colleagues at NT Concepts to become community leaders. Organizations including Women in Technology (WIT), AFCEA, the Boy Scouts of America, and the Pioneer Baseball/Softball League have gained volunteers and financial resources because of Michele’s encouragement and example.
"We're thrilled to have seen so much interest in this year's Heroines in Technology Awards call for nominations," said Bridget Bean, Event Co-Chair and District Director, U.S. Small Business Administration. "Women in our area are doing extraordinary things within the community, and our intent is that these awards recognize finalists for their passion and dedication to the technology industry. We congratulate everyone for their hard work and wish the finalists luck in the competition."
Heroines in Technology award winners will be announced at a black-tie gala on October 21, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Reston in Reston, Va., where there will be dinner, music and auctions. Proceeds from the event will support local March of Dimes programs of research, community services, education and advocacy to reduce the occurrence of birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
"When I was growing up, my parents were just as encouraging about the contributions I made around the house as they were about lending a helping hand to others. Volunteering was a constant in my upbringing and it remains a part of my life today," said Michele Bolos. "I am honored to share the company of the amazing women recognized by AFCEA NOVA and March of Dimes as Finalists for the Heroines in Technology Awards."
